DIPG Kids - MEET Miette

"Miette is five years old. She celebrates her sixth birthday in October. Something she has been talking about since she started Prep at the beginning of the year.

She was diagnosed on July 25th with an Diffuse Intrusive Pontine Glioma (brainstem tumour). On the 26th July, 2011 they told us "with radiation therapy she has a 50 percent chance of being here in a year. She has a 0 percent chance of being with us in two years."

Miette loves princesses like most little girls. She also loves fairies and castles and magical things. Her favourite animal at the moment is a Giraffe! She used to love Elephants. She loves cats - especially kittens. She wants a fluffy white one or one with grey and white strips. She adores her teacher. She loves her brother, Xander, and follows him around. She loves her baby sister, Amélie, and enjoys playing games with her. She's a sweet little crumb - just like her namesake.

She's courageous and takes everything in her stride. We are amazed at how well she has taken on her treatment and tests. She is completely still when asked to be and has amazing patience.
